Nigeria’s former Ambassador to the Philippines, Dr Yemi Farounbi has urged the Federal Government to implement the 600 resolutions of the 2014 National Conference.
He spoke on Monday, April 12, 2021, in Ibadan, while featuring on the BCOS Television Breakfast Programme, ‘AM 120’.
Dr Farounbi said unless the Nation goes back to the recommendations of the 2014 CONFAB, agitations for secession and self-determination by the various ethnic nationalities will continue.
The Elder Statesman lamented that the existing constitution has limited the capability of State Governors in the respective regions to develop their States.
He noted that agitations for ‘Oduduwa Republic’ arose in the Southwest after the Yoruba felt marginalized and the Federal Government failed to protect lives and property in the region.
The former Ambassador also faulted the State creation process which seems to favour a particular part of the country over the other regions.
