Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has decorated a Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Alkali Usman Baba, as the acting Inspector-General of Police.
The event took place at the Aso Villa, Abuja on Wednesday, April 7, 2021.
President Muhammadu Buhari had on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, appointed DIG Usman Baba to succeed former IGP Mohammed Adamu.
Mr Adamu, whose tenure ended in February 2021, after completion of his mandatory 35 years in service, got a three-month extension by the President but he had only spent about two months out of the three-month extension when he was replaced.
Former IGP Adamu was in Owerri, the Imo State capital, following attacks on the Owerri Prisons and the Imo Police Command Headquarters when the Minister of Police Affairs announced his replacement.
