The provost and deputy provost of the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, Prof. Ezekiel Olapade-Olaopa and Prof. Obafunke Denloye, have tested positive to coronavirus.
Prof. Olapade-Olaopa, who made this known in a group message on Sunday morning, March 29, 2020, said “Dear Colleagues, I wish to inform you that the Deputy Provost and I tested positive for the COVID-19 following the tests done on Friday. Although we are both asymptomatic, we have gone into self-isolation for the next 14 days while our contacts are being observed closely to determine if they should also be tested.”
It would be recalled that the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) had, on Saturday night, March 28, 2020, announced seven cases from Oyo State, which was initially 4.
A breakdown of the case in the country, according to the NCDC, now shows that Oyo State have the third highest number of confirmed cases in the country, while Lagos and FCT take the first and second positions respectively.
