Oyo State Governor, Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde has disclosed that his administration has been able to utilize Government funds for the expansion of the State economy with a view to reducing poverty and improving prosperity of the people.
The Governor made this known while answering questions on the BCOS special programme tagged “Two Years in Office” and transmitted simultaneously on all radio and television channels of the Corporation, as well as the Corporation’s Social Media Platforms, on Saturday, May 29, 2021.
He said the massive rehabilitation, construction and reconstruction of roads across all zones of all State was to open up economy and make Oyo State the business hub in this part of the country.
Governor Makinde remarked that the standard of roads being constructed by his Government could favourably be compared with any of the best anywhere in Nigeria.
Speaking on taxation, the State Governor explained that his administration has been able to expand tax base to improve on the State Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) instead of increasing taxes, a process which he said could negatively affect the purchasing power of citizens.
