SULTAN CONDEMNS BURNING OF STUDENT OVER BLASPHEMY, SEEKS RELIGIOUS TOLERANCE

The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, has condemned the gruesome killing of a female student of the Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto who was burnt to death over alleged blasphemy.

This was made known in a statement signed by the Secretary of the Sultanate, Sa’idu Muhammadu Maccido.

The council urged security agencies to bring perpetrators of the dastardly act to justice, while also urging all to remain calm and ensure peaceful co-existence among all people of the State and nation.

According to reports, Ms. Deborah was accused of passing unflattering comments about Prophet Mohammed on campus.

This led to her being attacked and burnt by a host of others identified as Muslims.
