 ‘Staying In Overcrowded Places Could Aid Lassa Fever Infection’ -Medical Expert

A Medical Practitioner has advised those suffering from stubborn fever which is not yieding to treatment to seek further tests.

Dr Olayinka Ilesanmi of the Department of Public Health, University College Hospital gave the advise on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 on Oluyole F.M Yoruba discussion programme ‘Gbarada’, stating that such ailment could be Lassa Fever.

The Medical Practitioner explained that initial symptoms of Lassa Fever resemble those of malaria, adding that other symptoms of Lassa Fever include blood vomiting and bleeding in some parts of the body.

Dr Ilesanmi however assured that no case of Lassa Fever is recorded yet in Oyo State.

He then urged people of the State to avert the disease by avoidning direct conact with body fluids of infected persons and rodents.

while warning that Lassa Fever is highly contagious, Dr Ilesanmi advised people to avoid overcrowded buses and rooms, as such could aid infection.
