Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Mr Nwachukwu Enwonu, has disclosed that the Officer who opened the detention cell door for the Akinyele serial killings prime suspect, Sunday Shodipe, was not on duty.

Mr Enwonwu made the disclosure while answering questions on the BCOS television program, ‘AM120’.

He said the Police Officer had early that day closed for duty, stressing that the Officer’s action added credence to the speculations by members of the public that the Police had indeed colluded with the criminals.

Mr Enwonwu made it known that disciplinary actions had commenced as all Officers who were supposed to be on duty are already in detention.

He explained that all necessary disciplinary procedures would be followed in order not to indict innocent Officers.

The Police Boss said reports would be sent to higher authorities immediately after the ongoing investigations on all the Officers involved were concluded.
