 Rivers Organised Labour Suspends Planned Protest

After meeting with the Rivers State Government, the President, Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Ayuba Wabba, has said the scheduled protest has been suspended.

The Organised labour made up of Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) in the meeting raised pending issues with the State Government, focusing on new minimum wage, payment of outstanding Health Workers’ salaries, unsealing of the NLC Secretariat among other concerns.

Comrade Wanna said the Organised Labour agreed to immediately shelve the planned protest; noted that the State Government has agreed to pay the approved 30 thousand naira new national minimum wage, after months of unresolved negotiations.

The NLC Boss added that both Parties have agreed to sign the agreement on the implementation of the new national minimum wage and consequential adjustment.
