The Oyo State House of Assembly has directed the sacked Chairmen in all the 33 Local Government areas and 35 LCDAs in the State to return all Government properties in their custody back to their Council areas.
This was sequel to a matter of urgent public importance brought to the floor of the House by the Majority Leader, Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin, on Thursday, July 16, 2020.
He said the matter had undergone several Court proceedings which has been decided by the Judge, Justice Haruna Tsammani.
Hon. Adedoyin added that some Government properties had been declared missing from various Council area which were claimed to have been taken away by the sacked Chairmen.
Some of the State Lawmakers including Hon. Abiodun Fadeyi, Hon. Olusola Owolabi, and Hon. Francis Adetunji, said the judgement of the Court of Appeal on Wednesday, July 15, 2020, is clear and the need to ensure accountability must be on top priority of the Council areas.
The Lawmakers called on all the Caretaker Chairmen in the State to take inventory in other to know missing properties and items and forward the details to the House of Assembly.
Adopting the resolves of the matter of urgent public importance, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, urged the Commissioner of Police and other Security Agencies to intervene and make sure that all Government properties moved by the sacked Chairmen are returned to the Council areas.
