The Oyo State Police Command has refuted the allegation by the All-Progressives Congress (APC) that there was an attack on its campaign train in Ibadan.
The opposition Party alleged that its political campaign rally in Ibadan was attacked by members of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
The state Police Public Relation Officer, (PPRO), SP Adewale Osifeso said that the attack claim by the APC was false.
According to him, the State Police Command under the leadership of CP Adebowale Williams has held a series of meetings with relevant Political stakeholders in the State to underscore the importance of a peaceful 2023 general election build-up.
CP Adebowale Williams has however ordered immediate investigations into the incident while warning parents, guardians, and members of the public against unnecessarily heating up the polity with inciting utterances and provocative gestures.
Meanwhile, Oyo State PDP has reacted to the press statement by the state Commissioner of Police.
The ruling party, in a press statement made available to newsmen by its State Publicity Secretary, Akeem Olatunji said the Police Commissioner’s statement has justified its fears about the level of desperation by the opposition Party.
The Party stressed that no amount of political aspiration is worth a single human’s life stressing that it did not want anything untoward that would undermine the relative peace and security being enjoyed in the state.
