The results of the just concluded Local Government Election in Oyo State and the enthusiasm of the electorate towards the poll is a clear indication of what to expect in the coming 2023 Gubernatorial Elections in the State.
The Executive Chairman of the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State, BCOS, Prince Dotun Oyelade who made this observation in a statement in Ogbomoso, also noted that the people voted not along Party lines or affiliations, but for the personality of a performing Governor.
Speaking on the decision of the main opposition Party in the State, the APC, not to participate in the poll, Prince Oyelade described this as a mere face saving device; noting that the good people of Oyo State are not ready to vote for a Party that openly identifies with and blatantly refuses to condemn the heinous activities of criminal Fulani Herdsmen in Southern Nigeria.
The BCOS Executive Chairman further observed that the APC in Oyo State is not only guilty of non-condemnation of criminal Fulani Herdsmen terrorism in their own Yoruba homeland, but have also turned a blind eye to the free fall of the nation’s economy and the Federal Government’s lack of empathy for the plight of the Nigerian Masses.
He recalled a comment by the State Secretary of the APC during an interview with the BCOS News where the APC Scribe openly endorsed and declared support for fuel price hike at a time Nigerians were already reeling and groaning under the yoke of imposed economic hardship by the current Federal administration.
Prince Oyelade said there is no way the people of Oyo State would support at State level a Party that is merely a replica of the inadequacies of its national handlers and coordinators.
