The Oyo state government has put all machinery in place to prevent spreading of Lassa fever across the state.
The BCOS correspondent, Olamiposi Ishola, reports that the state’s commissioner for Health, Dr Bashiru Bello, stated this at a press conference held at Ministry of Information Agodi Secretariat Ibadan
According to Dr Bello, the reoccurrence of the lassa fever in some parts of the country especially the neighbouring states calls for urgent attention of relevant stakeholders.
He explained that it’s high time people give adequate attention to their health by ensuring proper preservation of food items.
Other stakeholders who spoke at the programme include the Chairman Nigeria Medical Association Oyo state, Dr Akin Sodipo, Commissioner for Information Dr Wasiu Olatunbosun and Director Public Health .
All the stakeholders present emphasized the need for people to be vigilant to prevent further spread of Lassa fever.
They also advocate that proper cooking facilities and hygienic environment will no doubt reduce or prevent spread of Lassa fever in the state.
