The Oyo State Government has rolled out the first phase of an intervention scheme to empower at least fifty women in each Local Government Area of the state to ensure self-reliance and boost their livelihood.

The empowerment initiative facilitated by the State Ministry Of Women Affairs and Social Inclusion in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs was flagged off by the Wife of Oyo State governor, Mrs Tamunominini Makinde at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba.

Mrs Tamunominini Makinde presented household and commercial equipment to the beneficiaries.

She further encouraged them to utilize the items to enhance their finance, support their families and contribute to the economic development of the state.

While enumerating some of the items distributed including gas cylinders, driers, sewing machines, and freezers amongst others, Mrs Makinde appealed to the beneficiaries not to sell off the equipment but use it for personal benefits.

Earlier in their various remarks, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Alhaja Kafilat Olayiwola and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs Grace Oderinde noted that the current administration would always prioritise the welfare and concerns of the people particularly women in the state, calling for collaboration and support from the women in achieving the objectives of governance.
