The Oyo State House of Assembly has summoned the Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Lands and Urban Development, as well as the State Surveyor-General over acquired lands and buildings of residents at Olosa-Oko, Alabata, Ajibade, Agbedo and Alase Villages in the Akinyele Local Government Areas.
This was sequel to a motion by the Lawmaker representing Akinyele 1 Constituency, Hon. Olatunde Kehinde, who emphasised the need to initiate dialogue among Stakeholders on the alleged move by the Government to acquire land in the Akinyele Local Government Area.
Hon. Kehinde said the inhabitants of the concerned Villages who are predominantly Farmers are apprehensive over suspected moves to acquire their lands without prior notice.
During deliberations on the motion, Hon. Gabriel Babajide said the House needs to probe further into the matter of land acquisition in the Akinyele Local Government Area.
Shedding some light on the matter, another Lawmaker, Hon. Bamidele Adeola said the State Government did not acquire 4000 Hectares of land in the Akinyele Local Government Area as reported, but only 300 Hectares was acquired by the previous Administration for the establishment of a Dry Port and the development of the Local Council Area.
Adopting the resolution of the motion, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin constituted an ad-hoc Committee to investigate the processes of land acquisition in the Local Government Area.
