The Presiding Cleric at the funeral service and mass burial of victims of the massacre at St. Francis Catholic Church Owo, Bishop Jude Arogundade of Ondo Catholic Diocese has challenged the nation’s leaders on their responsibility to the populace.
The Cleric asked the nation’s leaders if they were still in control, while also wondering if the nation is at war.
He said God is not amused as Nigerian leaders act indifferent and do business as usual in the midst of widespread mindless killings and bloodshed.
The Bishop added that the political leadership must do more to address the security challenges of social injustice, oppression, inequity, and insecurity.
In attendance at the funeral service were Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, other top government officials, leaders of CAN, and the Catholic Church including the outspoken Bishop of the Sokoto Diocese of the Catholic Church in Nigeria, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah, and Archbishop Of Catholic Archdiocese of Ibadan, His Grace Gabriel Leke Abegunrin.
