Not less than 137 cases of COVID-19 Delta variant have been detected in Oyo State as of August 3, 2021.
This was disclosed by the Oyo State COVID-19 Incident Manager, Dr Taiwo Ladipo while featuring on BCOS TV Breakfast programme, ‘AM120’.
Dr Ladipo who stated that 14 deaths have also been recorded between 22nd of June and 3rd of August, urged Oyo State residents to be conscious of the deadly virus.
He advised people who have received the first jab of Astrazeneca Vaccine to exercise patient and stick to it rather than other products when they arrived.
Also featuring on the programme, the Chairman, University College Hospital (UCH) Taskforce on COVID-19 and Chief Consultant Forensix Pathologist, UCH, Dr Uwom Eze described the COVID-19 Delta Variant as dangerous and destructive; adding that the variant kills not less than four people daily in the country.
Dr Eze urged various institutions both private and public to have Taskforce on COVID-19 with the responsibility of enforcing safety precautions of the deadly virus.
