One person died while three were rescued in a ghastly auto crash that occured on Wednesday at Customs Junction along Oyo State Secretariat, Bodija road, Ibadan.

The accident was confirmed by the Oyo State Road Transport Management Authority (OYRTMA).

OYRTMA stated that the crash which happened at 1620hours, involved a commercial Mazda bus with registration number BDJ322YF, a private Toyota Corolla Car with Registration Number LSD592FZ and four commercial motorcycles.

According to the agency, “preliminary investigations available as at the time of filling this report reveals that reckless and drunk driving which resulted to head-on collision led to the unfortunate incidence wherein one victim was reported to have died on-the-spot while three others were rescued by men of the OYRTMA Rescue Team in conjunction with a combined team of men of the Nigerian Police Force, Custom Service, NSCDC and others”.

It added that the Police are continuing with further investigations to uncover the root cause of the crash, as OYRTMA officers have returned normalcy to the area.

OYRTMA however beseech the motoring public along the route and elsewhere to drive carefully and be observant.
