The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed has said there was no truth in the claim made by the Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki that the Central Bank of Nigeria had to print between 50 Billion Naira and 60 Billion Naira for States to share in March at the meeting of the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC).
Describing the Governor’s claim as very sad, the Minister explained on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, that the money being shared monthly at FAAC is revenue generated.
It would be recalled that Governor Obaseki was last week quoted as raising the alarm over Nigeria’s financial position which he said made the CBN to print about 60 Billion Naira to augment allocation shared by States in March.
While answering questions from State House correspondents on Wednesday, the Minister said Governor Obaseki’s claim was not factual.
She said revenue distribution is public information that is available to all, insisting that the nation’s debt profile is still within sustainable limit.
