 Makinde, Ajimobi Meet At Lekan Are’s Funeral; Recall His Words

The Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde and his predecessor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi have disclosed that the late Laguna Bobajiro of Ibadanland, Dr Olalekan Ayokunnu Are, during his life time warned them at separate occasions not to fight or use abusive words in the political terrain.

They both acknowledge this on Friday, February 21, 2020, at the funeral of the late Philanthropist and Business man, Dr Olalekan Are, held at the Cathedral Church of Saint David, Kudeti, Ibadan.

BCOS Reporter, Folasade Seye-Ojo, disclosed that the two Political giants who spoke on the need for peace said late Dr Are will be fondly missed even as he was at no time economical with the truth during his life, maintaining peaceful coexistence.

Earlier, former Governor Abiola Ajimobi, who represented vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the funeral of late Dr Lekan Are, disclosed publicly that there was a serious fight between him and his successor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, but noted that the duo will resolve the face-off in due course.

On his part, the State Governor, Engr Makinde declared peace between him and his Predecessor, Senator Ajimobi, emphasizing the need for peace in the State.

It would be recalled that the Makinde-led Government in Oyo State had bemoaned that Political functionaries of the immediate past Government were in possession of Government vehicles, asking them to return the same to Government’s care; while Senator Ajimobi had recently dragged Governor Makinde to Court over the revocation of his plots of land at Agodi, Ibadan.

Late Dr Lekan Are who died during a brief illness at the High Dependency Unit of the UCH at about 12.30am on Saturday, January 18, 2020, at the age of 86, was the Pioneer General Manager of Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority from 1977 to 1985.
