The late Ondo Commissioner for Health, Dr. Wahab Adegbenro, was laid to rest in Ilaro.
Dr. Adegbenro died on Thursday at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, following a failed battle with COVID-19 infection.
Officials conducting the burial were kitted according to COVID-19 protocols while a crowd of sympathizers gathered at Ilaro Mokin to witness burial.
In a statement Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, described the death of the late Commissioner for Health as a painful loss.
“Dr Wahab Adegbenro, the Honourable Commissioner for Health was a reliable colleague and compatriot. A great General in the forefront of our battles against COVID-19.”
“His calmness and dedication towards caring for everybody was loved by all. He will be sorely missed. My heartfelt condolences to his family, especially his wife who is a big cheerleader of this administration” the Governor said in a video on his Facebook page.
Governor Akeredolu had embarked on self- isolation after he had tested positive for COVID-19.
