The immediate past Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, died from multiple organs failure, following complications from Coronavirus infection.
The Commissioner for Health in Lagos State, Professor Akin Abayomi, confirmed this via his verified Twitter handle on Friday, June 26, 2020.
He revealed that Senator Ajimobi died on Thursday, June 26, 2020, at a private facility in Lagos State approved by the State Government to offer Coronavirus treatment.
Professor Abayomi condoled with the family of the late former Governor and the people of Oyo State.
Senator Ajimobi, who died at the age of 70, was a two-term Governor of Oyo State, the first person to occupy the seat twice and in succession.
It was rumoured last week that he had passed on, but his Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy, Mr Bolaji Tunji, dismissed the reports in a statement obtained by Channels Television.
The news of the former Governor’s death was confirmed on Thursday by aides and some family members, as well as elder statesmen and political bigwigs in the Country.
