Lagos Govt Cautions Residents Against Stigmatising Discharged COVID-19 Patients

The Lagos State Government has caution residents against stigmatising those who have been discharged after recovering from Coronavirus in the State.

It, however, appealed to the people to show love to the discharged persons and encourage them after recovering from the disease.

The State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, stated this on Sunday, April 5, 2020, while announcing that five more people have been discharged and released to reunite with their loved ones.

According to the Governor, the five more discharged patients include a 10-year-old girl, two males and two females respectively.

He noted that they tested negative twice to Coronavirus, bringing the total number of patients who have fully recovered and discharged from the Infectious Disease Hospital in Yaba to 29.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, has revealed that the second person who died of COVID-19 in the State was a 36-year-old Nigerian male.

Reacting on his Twitter Handle, Prof. Abayomi added that the man died in a private facility on Saturday, April 5, 2020.

He explained that as of 11:20am on Sunday, April 5, 2020, six new cases of Coronavirus were discovered, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the State to 115.
