The Leadership of the Senate is currently holding a crucial meeting with the service chiefs over the state of the security in the country.
The closed-door meeting between the Senators and Service Chiefs is aimed at reviewing the current security strategies and discussing new solutions.
Present at the meeting are the Chief of Defense Staff, Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Naval Staff, Chief of Air Staff, DG DSS, and a representative of the National Security Adviser.
Speaking at the commencement of the meeting, Senate President Ahmad Lawan said the security challenges have lingered and the Red Chamber had hoped that the situation would have been better.
The Senate President said the situation is frightening, adding that there is nowhere to hide or go.
He emphasized that it is dire at this time to come up with an effective solution, as the crisis is dislocating where the head of government is situated.
Lawan, while acknowledging the efforts of the security agencies for doing their best also stressed that more effort should be put in.
The Chief of Defense Staff General Lucky Irabor while responding, said a lot is being put to improve security.
General Irabor also emphasized that the troops are still committed to the cause and that no stone will be left unturned in addressing the security problems confronting the country.
