The Governors of Oyo and Osun States, Seyi Makinde and Gboyega Oyetola have concluded plans to reconstruct Iwo Road interchange to Olodo, Lalupon, Iwo town to Osogbo.
This was disclosed in a joint press briefing held in Ibadan on Monday by the Commissioner for Works and Transport in Oyo State, Professor Kehinde Shangodoyin, and Commissioner for Works and Transport in Osun State, Engineer Oluremi Omowaye.
According to Professor Shangodoyin, Oyo will handle the 29.2km stretch of road from Iwo Road interchange to the border point between the two States while Osun will handle the rest.
Prof. Shangodoyin who highlighted some of the benefits the reconstruction of the road would bring to the two states, said the other details of the project would be made public during its flag-off.
In his address, the Commissioner for Works and Transport in Osun state, Oluremi Omowaye said the Osun state government will handle a 54.4km stretch of the road from Oshogbo to the boundary between the two states.
He added that the joint collaboration will enhance regional integration saying that the two governments would meet again to deliberate on modalities for the project’s implementation, which includes, the amount to be expended, the duration for the completion, and the contractor to be awarded the project.
