Gunmen Kill Police Commander, Seven Others In Plateau

The Commander, Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team based in Mangu, Plateau State, Mr Abdulrahaman Isah, has been killed by gunmen.

It was reported that the Police personnel and seven other persons were killed by their assailants on Sunday evening, August 23, 2021, at Kwoi, a community in the Mangu Local Government Area of the State.

Confirming the incident to Newsmen in Jos, on Monday, August 24, 2021the spokesman of the State Police Command, Mr Ubah Ogaba, said the Command received credible information about the activity of a notorious syndicate of gunrunners at Kwoi Village, in Mangu LGA of the State at about 2p.m.

He said following the information, the IGP’s Intelligence Response Team (IRT) based in Mangu, Police Operatives attached to Mangu Division, Special Task Force and local vigilante were mobilised and swiftly raced to the area.

Mr Ogaba confirmed that six of the hoodlums were neutralised while others fled with various degrees of bullets wounds but the Commander of Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team, Mr Abdulrahaman Isah, and a local vigilante, Mr Hassan Mohammed paid the supreme price during the gun duel.

He disclosed that items recovered from the hoodlums include three AK 47 Rifles.
