Suspected gunmen have attacked the convoy of the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police, Zone 12, Bauchi, injuring him and killing one of his police guards.

The incident occurred on Tuesday at about 2.30 p.m. between Barde and Jagindi areas in Kaduna State.

It was gathered that the victim, Audu Madaki, was on his way to Abuja from Bauchi when the suspected terrorists ambushed and attacked him.

Madaki was reportedly shot at and injured during the attack while his orderly was shot dead.

According to reports, the AIG is receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Abuja while security has been beefed up around the Zone, as armed Police personnel have been drafted to the area to comb the bush in order to fish out the terrorists.
