Berlin (dpa) – Despite a nationwide lockdown that bans gatherings of more than five people, German police had to break up an escalating Christmas company party that involved a beer wagon, an unknown number of partying guests and possibly a fight, according to a statement from Wednesday.
According to the statement, two guests had called the police to an “illegal Christmas party” at an industrial company in the town of Quierschied, which lies close to the French border, on Tuesday evening.
When they arrived on the site, some of the guests hid from the officers, including one senior employee who was discovered in a fetal position under a desk and two employees who were found in a broom closet.
One of the guests also filed a complaint against a colleague for assault as apparently there had been a fight.
So far, police has taken the personal details of eight people who were present that evening, none of whom showed signs of seeing anything wrong with attending such a party during a pandemic, according to the statement.
