FOUR PEOPLE KILLED, SEVEN MISSING FOLLOWING GAS EXPLOSION IN POLAND

Four people were killed and seven others missing, following a gas explosion at a coal mine in Southern Poland on Wednesday.

One of the miners injured by the methane explosion at the Pniowek mine died in hospital, bringing the casualty figures to four.

Polish Deputy Prime Minister, Jacek Sasin tweeted that rescuers were still looking for seven other people.

The Country’s Prime Minister, Mateusz Morawiecki also expressed his condolences and said he would travel to the area.

The mining company said that 21 people had been injured and also spoke of two explosions.

The company said the first blast occurred shortly after midnight at a depth of 3,281 feet.
