The Federal Government has evacuated 292 Nigerians who were stranded in Saudi Arabia due to the lockdown necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The flight conveying the evacuees arrived late on Tuesday night, May 19, 2020, at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja.
Their arrival was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama via his official Twitter handle on Wednesday morning, May 20, 2020.
He said a large number of the evacuees are nursing mothers and children who are doing well and have all settled down in hotels for the mandatory 14-day quarantine.
The FG has successfully evacuated 265 Nigerians from United Arab Emirate, 253 from the United Kingdom and 160 from the United States.
The latest returnees bring the total number of evacuated Nigerians to 970.
