The Federal Executive Council has approved the National Poverty Reduction with Growth Strategy, submitted by the Presidential Economic Advisory Council.
The decision was taken on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at the weekly meeting of the Council presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
According to the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina who briefed State House correspondents at the end of the meeting, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo who was Head of the Presidential Economic Advisory Council, will Chair the steering Committee to provide overall guidance for implementation.
Apart from approving the implementation of the strategy, the Federal Executive Council also approved that it be incorporated into the Medium Term National Development Plan 2021-2025 and Agenda 2050.
Mr Femi Adesina added that the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr Abubakar Malami (SAN), was directed to prepare a Bill for submission to the National Assembly to make the implementation of the strategy sustainable.
