The Nigerian Army has said an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, Eastern Security Network (ESN) has exploded, inflicting injuries on their members.
This was contained in a statement by the Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu in Enugu on Thursday.
The Army said the exploded IED caused severe injuries to two members of the outlawed group.
General Nwachukwu said the incident occurred along Eke Ututu – Orsu road in Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State on Wednesday.
It was gathered that the separatist agitators inadvertently stepped on the IED which they had earlier planted along several routes in Orlu, Orsu Local Government area.
