As part of activities to mark the Eid-El-Fitr celebration the Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has pardoned 300 inmates from its correctional facilities in the state.
The Governor gave the state pardon while he paid a visit to the Goron Dutse prison facility.
According to him, the gesture is part of the on-going decongestion exercise to curb the spread of COVID-19 and in compliance with the presidential directive to decongest the correctional centres.
The freed inmates were given five thousand naira each for transportation back to their respective homes.
It was gathered that in the space of two months Kano state has released about 603 inmates.
