 Edo Governorship Election: Obaseki Takes Lead In

As the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) started to announce results of polls conducted across Edo State on Saturday, September 19, 2020, the incumbent Governor of the State, Mr Godwin Obaseki, is distinctIvey taking the lead as at Sunday morning, September 20, 2020,

Governor Obaseki, contesting as a candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has his closest challenger in the All Progressives Congress (APC) party, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

The results of 13 Local Governments have already been announced by the Electoral Commission while the results for five Local Governments are being awaited.

Out of the 13 Local Governments results already announced, Governor Obaseki won 11 and his closest opponent, Pastor Ize-Iyamu won 2.

According to Channels TV, summation of the votes awarded to Governor Obaseki in 13 Local Governments stood at 243,604, while Pastor Ize-Iyamu’s was 154,192.
