In united kingdom, the husband of Queen Elizabeth II who was also the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Phillip has died at the age of 99.
According to Buckingham palace, Prince Phillip passed away peacefully on Friday morning, April 9, 2021, at Windsor Castle.
Expressing condolences at downing street, the Prime Minister, Mr Boris Johnson said the Duke of Edinburgh inspired the lives of countless young people.
Mr Johnson added that the deceased helped to steer the royal family and the monarchy so that it remains an institution indisputably vital to the balance and happiness of the United Kingdom.
In march, the Duke of Edinburgh left hospital after a month-long stay for treatment.
The Prince married Princess Elizabeth in 1947, five years before she became queen, and was the longest-serving royal consort in British history. Prince Philip and the Queen had four children, eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
