Hundreds of members of the defunct Alliance for Democracy in Oyo State have collapsed the structure in the 33 Local Government areas in the State and joined the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the State.
The State Chairman of PDP, Hon. Dayo Ogungbenro, who welcomed the AD members to PDP, assured them of equal treatment with other members of the Party.
It would be recalled that in February this year, Alliance for Democracy was among the registered Political Parties deregistered by Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, hence, the need for members in Oyo State to collapse the AD Structure to join PDP.
Hon. Ogungbenro, who noted that the Party will continue to witness defection of members of Political Parties due to the unprecedented achievements recorded by Governor Seyi Makinde-led Administration, urged the new members to continue to support Seyi Makinde-led Administration and work harmoniously with other members of the Party for the advancement of Oyo PDP.
Earlier, the Alliance for Democracy members, led by Pastor Akin Alamu, said they decided to officially join PDP after the Party was deregistered by INEC early this year; stressing that the new members will work collectively for the progress of PDP in the State.
Some defectors said their decision to join PDP was due to the good governance and leadership style of Governor Makinde in the last three years.
