Oyo State Government has slashed 50 per cent salaries of Political Appointees to boost the economy of the State with or without allocation from the Federal Government.
The State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde stated this at the 2020 Workers Day celebration held at the NLC Secretariat, Idi-Ape, Ibadan.
Governor Makinde, who acknowledge the sacrifice of Health Workers and Civil Servants, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic in the State, assured workers of prompt payment of salaries on the 25th of every month, despite the dwindling economy as a result of Coronavirus disease.
Governor Makinde enjoined the workers and Labour leaders to work collectively with the State Government to boost the economy of the State.
It would be recalled that two weeks ago, Chairmen of Parastatals, Agencies and Commissions in Oyo State volunteered to a 50 percent pay cut in their next salaries.
The decision was reached in the light of unprecedented financial situation brought about by the rampaging Coronavirus and the urgent steps which the State Government has been taking to stem the spread of the virus.
