Madagascan President, Andry Rajoelina, on Wednesday, held a virtual meeting with the Director-General of the World Health Organisation, Tedros Ghebreyesus, to discuss the COVID Organics used by the African nation to combat the coronavirus pandemic.
The Madagascar President who took to his official Twitter handle to make the meeting known stated that the meeting followed the invitation by WHO to register the drug for clinical trials.
He further stated that the WHO has expressed its support for the clinical observation of the herbal ‘tonic’ named COVID Organics.
COVID Organic is a herbal drug made from Artemisia annua which Madagascar claim to have been successful in its treatment of coronavirus patients and had sent consignments of the herbal remedy to other African nations.
The tweet reads: “Successful exchange with Tedros Ghebreyesus who commends Madagascar’s efforts in the fight against COVID-19 and congratulates us for the discovery of COVID Organics.
“WHO will sign a confidentiality clause on its formulation and will support the clinical observations process in Africa.”
