The Federal High Court sitting in Yola, Adamawa State has nullified the Governorship Primaries of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) in the State.

The primaries had produced Senator Aishat Binani as the Governorship candidate of the Party in the State but this was nullified as the Court ruled that there is no Governorship candidate in 2023.

In a judgment delivered by Justice Abdulaziz Anka on Friday, the court declared that the judgment is based on substantial evidence of non-compliance with the party guidelines and that of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

A Former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nuhu Ribadu, who came second following the primaries, had challenged the declaration of Senator Binani as the winner of the elections held on May 26, alleging vote buying, voting and an illegal delegates list from Lamurde Local Government Area of the state.

The Court held that there will be no candidate for the APC in the state for the 2023 elections but said both petitioner and defendants are free to appeal the ruling.
