COURT GRANTS UPWARD REVIEW OF JUDGES’ RENUMERATION

The National Industrial Court Abuja has ordered the upward review of salaries of judicial officers in the country.

Justice Osatohanmwen Obaseki-Osagie gave this ruling on Thursday, in a case filed by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Sebastian Hon, seeking for a salary increase for Nigerian Judges.

Obaseki-Osagie ordered the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission to immediately put in place needed machinery for implementation.

She noted that the current salary structure of the Justices, Judges, Grand Khadis, among other in Nigeria are embarrassingly too low in view of the present harsh economic realities.

The Court also ordered the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Defendants to pay N500,000 each, being judgement cost in favour of claimant.
