Commissioner for health, Plateau State Dr. Nimkong Larndam has said there is no confirmed case of coronavirus in Plateau state.
The commissioner however said the 43 persons had to be isolated for 14 days in order not to take chances.
Larndam gave the confirmation yesterday in a press conference held in his office to disabused the minds of Nigerians and citizens of the state over allegations that the virus has been detected in Plateau state.
Larndam explained that the four Chinese just returned from a vacation in China.
The commissioner added that regardless of the fact that the Chinese were screened in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and also Abuja airport, which they tested negative, such people are still supposed to be isolated for 14 days. So, we have isolated them between now and March 11, 2020.
Larndam noted that it is not only the four Chinese that were isolates, but all the people that had contacts with the Chinese on their return to Wase were are also in isolation.
During the press conference, the State Commissioner for Information and Communication Mr Dan Manjang added that isolating the 43 people is precautionary measure by the state.
The commissioner assured people of the state and other Nigerians who have anything to do with the state to feel free and go about their normal businesses as their is no case of Corona virus in Plateau State.
Larndam also said the State Government has put measures in place to handle any case of coronavirus, as there is an isolation wards in Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) and also in Plateau Specialist hospital.
He concluded by assuring the people that there is no reason to panic as the situation in Plateau is under control.
