President Muhammadu Buhari has asked the Senate to confirm the nomination of Justice Hussein Baba-Yusuf for appointment as the Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
Senate President Ahmad Lawan read President Buhari’s letter on the floor at plenary.
In August, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad, swore in Justice Hussein Baba Yusuf as acting Chief Judge of the FCT Judiciary, alongside five newly appointed Kadis of FCT Sharia Court of Appeal.
He specifically charged Justice Baba Yusuf to conduct the affairs of the FCT judiciary within the ambit of the law, adding that anything to the contrary would not place him on the right side of history.
Justice Muhammad also charged the acting Chief Judge and the new Kadis of the Sharia Court of Appeal to rise and operate above primordial sentiment in the discharge of their duties.
