Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich suffered symptoms of suspected poisoning at talks in Kyiv earlier this month, sources close to him say.

The Russian Oligarch who has now recovered reportedly suffered suffered temporary blindness, piercing pain in the eyes, and other symptoms of a deliberate poison attack on the evening of March 3.

He underwent treatment in Turkey, one of the few countries not to have imposed sanctions on Russia.

Two Ukrainian peace negotiators were also said to have been affected at the peace talks between Russia and Ukraine.

Reports stated that the conditions of the Ukrainian negotiators, who include Ukrainian MP Rustem Umerov, have improved since the incident on 3 March, and it is unclear as to what caused the symptons.

Abramovich is said to have travelled between Moscow and Kyiv as he is party to negotiations between the two countries as they hold peace talks. He had previously claimed he had no links to the Russian state led by Vladimir Putin, for which he has been heavily sanctioned.

A deal for Chelsea’s sale is hoped to be completed by the end of next month.
