The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Wednesday morning denied the bail application of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
In his ruling, Justice Binta Nyako, said the issue of Kanu’s absence in the past, since 2017, should be determined, before his bail application, will be entertained.
She added that Kanu breached his former bail conditions, and until that is heard, his present bail application is immature.
Earlier, the Federal Government amended the treasonable felony charges against Kanu.
Aloy Ejimakor, Kanu’s Special Counsel, said one of the seven-count charges was removed.
A member of Kanu’s legal team, who craved anonymity, however said the government had in the amended charge, listed some lawyers representing the embattled IPOB leader, including Misters Ifeanyi Ejiofor and Maxwell Opara, as accomplices of the defendant.
Reports gathered that the federal government alleged that the said lawyers, were constantly in contact with Kanu after he jumped bail and fled the country.
