BANDITS ABDUCT 22 PEOPLE ON KADUNA-ABUJA HIGHWAY AFTER IGP’S VISIT

22 people were abducted from some houses at Anguwar Maji, Jere town, along the Kaduna-Abuja highway on Sunday night.

This incident occurred barely 24 hours after the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, patrolled the highway.

The IGP had on Saturday, assured that there was the adequate deployment of men and assets to protect lives and property along the highway, noting that the route was safe for travelers and other road users.

It was gathered that the bandits came to the area in large numbers, attacked some houses, and went away with about 22 residents, including five women.

The bandits were said to have moved from house to house waking their victims up before they marched them into the bush at gunpoint, and operated silently in the community for over an hour.

According to reports, the spokesman of the State Police Command, ASP Mohammed Jalige could not be reached when contacted.
