The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) on Monday morning blocked the roads leading to the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.
This is in continuation of their protest against the ongoing industrial action embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
The protesting students who defied the heavy rainfall carried placards chanting Aluta songs to register their displeasure over the actions of the Federal Government while at the same time causing gridlock on the road leading to the airport which has left many travellers stranded.
“We call on students to rise and join us as we take our destinies into our hands. Our demands remain consistently clear and simple,” the Chairman, NANS National Task Force said.
Operatives from the Lagos State Police Command, RRS operatives, Lagos Airport Police Command, and other security agencies are on ground to monitor the mass actions of the protesters.
