Members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Oyo State Chapter turned out en masse for a peaceful protest in solidarity with its affiliate in the education sector, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
While addressing members before the protest, the State Chairman of NLC, Comrade Kayode Martins said the protest became necessary to show its displeasure with how the Federal Government has handled the ASUU case.
Recall that ASUU has been on strike since February 14 due to the Federal Government’s failure to meet its demands signed in 2009, the IPPIS among other reasons.
Com. Kayode Martins said other lines of action are in place if the Federal Government refuses to oblige to all ASUU’s demands.
Meanwhile, a human rights activist, Femi Aborisade has called on leaders to resign their appointments since they no longer have the interest of the masses at heart while workers no longer live well due to the bad economy.
Members of the NLC, during the rally, went through Gate, to Total Garden, and then to the State Secretariat where they are expected to meet with the representatives of the State Government.
