The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has vowed to block all federal roads and airports in the country.
This is in a bid to protest the 12-week extension of the strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
In a statement by the NANS President, Sunday Asefon, he condemned the inaction of the regime of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), over the industrial action which started on February 14, 2022.
Asefon further stated that students of public universities would disrupt primary elections and conventions by political parties scheduled for May ending.
The Union had on Monday, announced a 12-week extension of its already 3-month long industrial action.
This came on the heels of the government’s failure to satisfactorily implement the Memorandum of Action it signed with the Union in December 2020 on the renegotiation of the 2009 FGN/ASUU Agreement, deployment of the University Transparency and Accountability Solution, Earned Academic Allowances, funding for revitalisation of public universities, withheld salaries, amongst others.
