Students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, (LAUTECH),Ogbomoso, on Monday staged a peaceful protest to register their concern over the ongoing ASUU strike while also appealing to the Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde to save the institution from bondage of the industrial action caused by federal government.
The President, Student Union Government (SUG) of the institution, Comrade Anuoluwa Adeboye in an interview with BCOS correspondent, Aderemi Akanmu noted that some state Universities are exempted from the nationwide ASUU strike.
The protest, which started at the first gate of the institution around 9am caused traffic gridlock for several hours along Ogbomoso-Ilorin old road as the students barricaded road at the institution’s first gate and entrance of College of Health Sciences which was later turned to a DJ stand.
The students who were joined by some concerned members of the public were armed with placards of various inscriptions such as ‘Save Our Future’, also chanted various solidarity songs.
