The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has affirmed the victory of Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State in the March 9 governorship election.
A five-man panel led by Justice Fred Oho dismissed the appeal filed by the All Progressives Congress and its governorship candidate in the last election held in the state, Emmauel Jime.
The Court of Appeal resolved all the five issues considered in the appeal against the appellants and upheld the earlier judgment of the Benue State Governorship Election Petition which had earlier affirmed Ortom and his Peoples Democratic Party’s victory at the poll.
It held that the appellants’ appeal lacked merit and awarded the sum of N150,000 fine against the APC candidate.
Governor Ortom contested for re-election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after defecting from the APC.
