 Ace Newscaster, Ronke Fajemirokun Passes On

Ace Newscaster, Ronke Fajemirokun, is dead.

Mrs Ronke Fajemirokun, aged 53, died in the early hours of Friday, January 24, 2020, at the University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan as a result of brief illness.

She was one of the sought after Newscasters at the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS) until her deployment to Simeon Adebo Staff Development Centre at Agodi Secretariat, Ibadan, in 2019, where she was a Director.

Mrs Fajemirokun, popularly called “Iya Gbogbo” due to the ever pleasant and motherly roles she played in the life of anyone that comes in contact with her, is hardworking, forthright, easy going and kind Journalist who contributed significantly to the journalism profession.

She attended St Anne’s Baptist High School, lwo, Osun State for her Secondary School Education; Polytechnic, Ibadan, for her National Diploma Certificate and University of lbadan for her B.A (hons) and Masters in Communication Arts.

‘Aunty Ronke’, as fondly called by her subordinates, was an astute member of the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) both at the BCOS Chapel and the State Chapter, as well as a supportive member of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ).

The late Journalist would be sorely missed for her contributions to the development of Journalism.
